Finger-licking saucy is how we like our sloppy joe sliders! They’re made with lean ground turkey simmered in a flavorful mix of garlic, onion, chili and, in the spirit of Texas, barbecue sauce. Scoop them over whole-grain buns, and watch them disappear.
BBQ Sloppy Joe Sliders
Ingredients
- 1 pound JENNIE-O® Ground Turkey
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 red pepper, diced
- 3/4 teaspoon sea salt, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 6 slider buns
Directions
In large skillet, heat olive oil on medium-high. Add onions, red pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Cook 4 minutes or until soft. Transfer to small bowl and set aside.
Add ground turkey to skillet. Break up meat and add remaining 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, cumin,
chili powder, smoked paprika and Worcestershire sauce. Cook 8 to 10 minutes or until well-done, 165°F as measured by a meat thermometer. Stir in tomato sauce and barbecue sauce.
Add pepper and onions, and stir to combine. Reduce heat and simmer 3 to 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve on slider buns with additional barbecue sauce, if desired.
